How to use the two files

The layout guide shows the numbered zones and their pixel sizes, so you can match them in your own signage software. The clean background has the same panels with no text, so it is the one to use behind your content. For a single-zone slide, design on the clean background in any image editor and export a JPEG or PNG at the full screen size (1920 x 1080 or 1080 x 1920).

Tips for school and campus screens

Viewing distance.
Typically, students read hallway screens in a few seconds while walking, from 10 to 30 feet. Keep each item to a short line and use large type.
What goes where.
Use the main zone for announcements or student work, the side zone for today's bell or class schedule, and the lower zones for lunch and events.
Student information.
Follow your school's photo and media release policy before showing student names or photos.
Keep it current.
A stale screen is ignored fast. Give one person ownership of the daily zones, and keep the rest as slower seasonal content.
