Adaptive Solo End User License Agreement
Adaptive IP Services Inc (brand: Adaptive Digital Signs)
Effective date: September 12, 2026
Applies to: Adaptive Solo
This agreement is between you and Adaptive IP Services Inc, a Texas corporation founded in 2014 ("Adaptive", "we", "us"). Installing or using Adaptive Solo ("the software") means you accept it. If you do not accept it, do not install it.
1. What the Software Does
Adaptive Solo is an application for Windows or Ubuntu PCs that shows JPEG and PNG images from a folder you own on Google Drive or pCloud and have shared as "anyone with the link". It can also show an optional weather slide using US National Weather Service data. You need no account with us, and the software never signs in to your cloud account.
2. Your License
This license covers Adaptive Solo only. It does not cover Adaptive Signage Cloud, which is a separate subscription service with its own terms.
Your purchase licenses one player: one installation on one Windows or Ubuntu PC. The license is personal to you, non-exclusive, and perpetual for the major version you bought. The price is 29.99 USD, one time, per player. To run more players, buy more licenses.
3. Free Trial
The software runs free for seven days (168 hours) from first setup. When the trial ends, the player shows an activation screen and stops showing your images until you license it. Images already cached on the PC are kept.
4. Activation
The player generates a request code. Email it to support@adaptiveips.com with your purchase email address and order number. We email back a license file ending in .aipslicense; put it in the same shared folder the player reads. The license is bound to that one player and will not activate another PC.
5. Support, Updates, and Maintenance
Every purchase includes email support for the first 30 days after you buy, and one year of maintenance. Maintenance means both updates, including new releases of the major version you bought, and email support.
Maintenance is a separate store item, "Maintenance, one year", at 9.99 USD. It is not a subscription. It does not renew itself, we do not keep a payment method, and we do not bill you again. When you want another year, you buy the item again and we send you a renewed license file to put in your folder, the same way your first license arrived.
About 30 days before your maintenance ends we send you one reminder email, once. We do not send it again. The player's maintenance screen also shows how many days are left, and after the date passes it shows that you are not under maintenance, with a link to buy another year.
If you do not buy another year, nothing stops working. The software keeps running on the version you have, for as long as you want, and your license stays valid. Past the first 30 days after purchase, and outside a year of maintenance, support is best effort and the software is provided as is: no new versions, and no promised response time.
6. Replacing a PC or Reinstalling
If your PC is replaced, its operating system is reinstalled, or the device key is lost, we will reissue your license once at no charge. Email support with a new request code. To prevent abuse we record the computer name and network hardware address at reissue, and we may refuse repeated or suspicious requests. A reissued license does not switch off the old copy. If the old PC is permanently offline we cannot disable it remotely, so you agree to stop using that installation.
7. Refunds
You can request a refund of your purchase by emailing support@adaptiveips.com within 30 days of purchase, whether or not the software has been activated. When a purchase is refunded, we revoke the license and the software stops working on the player it was activated on.
8. What We Store
Your settings, local database, and cached images stay on your PC. An activation request carries a hashed device fingerprint and a public key, never passwords, credentials, or the contents of your files. We keep your purchase email address, order number, hashed device identifiers, and, only at reissue, the computer name and hardware address, for licensing and support only. There is no analytics, no telemetry, and no advertising. Weather requests go from your PC straight to weather.gov with no personal data.
9. Third-Party Components
The software includes components from other authors under their own licenses: fonts under the SIL Open Font License, SQLite and related components, and US postal code location data from GeoNames.org under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. The full list and license texts are in ThirdPartyNotices.txt, installed with the software.
10. What You May Not Do
Do not tamper with, bypass, or defeat the licensing. Do not share, resell, or redistribute your license file. Do not rent or sublicense the software. Do not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble it, except where the law gives you that right regardless of this clause.
11. Ownership
We own the software and keep every right not granted here. You own your images and your content, and nothing here gives us a claim on them.
12. Ending This License
This license ends automatically if you break section 10. If it ends, stop using the software and remove it. Sections 8, 11, 13, 14, and 15 survive.
13. No Warranty
The software is provided "as is" to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise it will run without interruption or error. It is not built for safety-critical use. Do not rely on it where a failure to display could cause injury, or for emergency, medical, or life-support notices.
14. Limit on Liability
Where the law allows a limit, our total liability to you for any claim connected to the software is capped at what you paid for it. We are not liable for lost business, lost display time, lost or damaged content, or indirect or consequential damages. Some states do not allow parts of this limit; there, it applies as far as it legally can.
15. Law and Venue
Texas law governs, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Collin County, Texas.
16. The Whole Agreement
This is the entire agreement about the software. If a court finds one part unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Revised terms apply to versions you install after the change, not to a version you already have.
17. Your Content, Our Terms and Privacy
You are responsible for everything you display with the software, including that you have the right to show it. The Adaptive Digital Signs Terms of Service (https://www.adaptivedigitalsigns.com/terms, section 7 covers customer content) and Privacy Policy (https://www.adaptivedigitalsigns.com/privacy) also apply to your use of the software.
